Low back pain and discomfort is extremely prevalent now a days. There are many factors contributing to low back issues. Sometimes it’s a combination of things like your occupation, sitting too often, and in-activity. Another reason for low back pain can be attributed to poor movement patterns.
For example there are hundreds of exercises out there, but there are only 7 fundamental human movement patterns we use to perform every exercise. Movement patterns are learned by doing. They need to be trained constantly to retrain a baseline level of non-dysfunctional movement. The movement pattern associated many times with low back issues would be the hip hinge or also known as a bend. When the hip hinge pattern becomes dysfunctional, low back issues can occur.
To ensure you have a well-tuned bend/hip hinge movement pattern check out this week’s training tip video for one exercise that you can do daily to keep your low back safe and out of pain!
